Brenda Metropolit, the Director of Sustainability Initiatives for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic games will talk about how she is planning for environmental sustainability that promotes economic development and helps marginalized populations.
Auden Schendler of the Aspen Skiing Co. will explain why we need to get down to the nitty-gritty of making sustainability work at a business level. Auden has been profiled in Business Week, Fast Company, and other major media outlets. Auden will be signing his new book, Getting Green Done: Hard Truths from the Front Lines of the Sustainability Revolution.
Find out how people are bringing together government, businesses, and NGOs/faith-based organizations to help relieve poverty in Mexico and Guatemala, help train at-risk youth and the homeless for green jobs in Seattle, preserve wetlands in Bogotá, Colombia, and turn waste into resources in King County.
Tom Crompton of the World Wildlife Foundation-UK will discuss his groundbreaking research in motivating the electorate to promote a sustainable environment. Tom is challenging many of the assumptions of the Green movement and arguing for a new approach to make sustainability a real option in the mind of citizens.
Kevin Wilhelm will explain "How Business Can Increase Profitability & Address Climate Change in an Uncertain Economy." Kevin has been working with many businesses in the Puget Sound area and nationally to help them remove the barriers between profitability and sustainability. Kevin will be signing his new book, Return on Sustainability.
